Theater lore tells us that the ghost light invites the ghosts that are said to inhabit all theaters onto the stage. It’s a welcoming and acknowledgement of the spirits that are part of every theater. Some say that if the light goes out, ghosts assume the theater is abandoned and cause mischief.
Through the Ghost Light offerings, we will turn on the ghost light within self and in so doing we will illuminate our own experiences of fallback—when despite our optimal developmental capacities, what we often refer to as our developmental center-of-gravity, we make meaning, feel, and act from a smaller, less complex, less capable form of mind. In short, when we fall back, we don’t show up our best self for a period of time.
Fallback debunks the illusion of the stairway-to-heaven of development. It reveals the shadows that exist in growth and the necessity of decline to allow something more whole, more authentic, more compassionate and humane to emerge. The symbolism of the ghost light allows us to recognize what happens on the stage of self when the theater is dark, when our shadowy characters are not invited in, and offers possibilities for exploration, discovery and action when the ghost light is left burning.

Ghost Light Asynchronous
A multi-modal, self-paced, online learning course replete with tools and exercises guided by leading thinkers and practitioners in the adult and leadership development fields to guide you in coming into relationship with your fallback.

Ghost Light LIVE
A 6-session, virtual, live course through which we will identify our scenes of fallback, of grace, and the characters that show up on stage; invite these characters to reveal their origin stories; identify the roles in our lives in which our characters have been cast; discover the story lines that have been written for us and that we have written for ourselves; experiment with becoming the director of our own play; and make it known that all spirits of self are welcome here. This course is limited to no more than 12 participants to ensure the intimacy of the group and experience. The Ghost Light Asynchronous course is included and serves as a learning companion.

Ghost Light Solo
An individual tour of one’s own theater of self. Adult development and fallback key thinker, Valerie Livesay, will accompany you through the Ghost Light framework where you will have the opportunity to illuminate the characters that make up your ensemble of self, their origin stories, and become intentional and adept at casting in the current and future scenes of your life. Ghost Light Solo is part workshop, part coaching, and fully in service to the integration of the fullness of you. The Ghost Light Asynchronous course is included and serves as a learning companion.
